Open Faculty Positions

The College of Health Sciences at the University of Delaware is planning an exciting new comprehensive clinical research complex on a recently acquired 272-acre tract of university property that is slated for development as a research and technology campus. This campus will form a prominent new hub for collaborative clinical research in what is already one of the nation’s leading life science regions, with over 400 locally based life sciences companies currently employing 55,900 highly skilled and 310,000 support workers. Our plans for growth include new research, education, and translational initiatives, as well as the establishment of new partnerships and collaborations.

To meet the needs of these initiatives, we are hiring a number of faculty. We are looking for candidates with vigorous research programs as well as a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.

Chairperson of Physical Therapy

The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Delaware invites nominations and applications for a department chair. We seek a visionary senior scientist with a vigorous research program and extramural funding who can provide strong, dynamic, and innovative leadership to advance excellence in research, teaching and clinical practice.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate and be qualified for appointment at the associate or full professor level. A proven record of externally funded research, commitment to professional and graduate education, eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in Delaware and effective management and interpersonal skills are required. The successful candidate will head a leadership team comprised of the Associate Chair, the DPT Program Director and the Director of Clinical Services in leading the department as we expand our program and move to our new home on the University’s STAR Campus in early 2014.

School of Nursing – Nannie Longfellow Professor of Nursing Science – Named Professor

The School of Nursing at the University of Delaware invites nominations and applications for the Nannie Longfellow Professor of Nursing Science. We seek a visionary scholar with a vigorous, extramurally funded research program or strong track record of funding that aligns with one of the School’s existing research strengths and who has the potential to provide future leadership for the School’s PhD in Nursing Science program. School of Nursing – Instructor Position

The School of Nursing at the University of Delaware invites applications for a non-tenure track instructor position to assist with clinical, laboratory, and classroom teaching of undergraduate students. Clinical specialization in mental health/psychiatric nursing is required. Applicants must hold minimally a Master’s of Science in Nursing and have a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical practice experience. Primary teaching responsibilities will be courses focused on mental health/psychiatric nursing but the candidate will contribute to other teaching efforts at the undergraduate level. Record of successful teaching experience in a postsecondary nursing program is preferred, certification in the specialty and/or as an advanced practice nurse is a plus. This is a one year position, renewable based on satisfactory performance. School of Nursing – Tenure Track Faculty Position

The School of Nursing at the University of Delaware invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Women’s Health to teach in our nationally recognized BSN and MSN programs. Candidates who possess research training, a beginning publication record, and exposure to the external funding process are preferred. Demonstrated expertise in the area of women’s health with additional experience in community health preferred. Doctorate required; doctoral candidates (ABD) will be considered. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist is a plus.

Department of Behavioral Health and Nutrition – Assistant or Associate Professor, Tenure Track Faculty Position

Primary responsibilities include establishing a funded research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in behavioral health, health promotion, and related areas, advising students, supervising master’s and Ph.D. students, and university service.

Earned doctorate in Health Psychology, Community or Public Health, Health Promotion or Education or related field. Evidence of ability to establish a funded research program required. Priority given to applicants specializing in the area of community health interventions. Record of successful teaching experience preferred. The salary is competitive, the benefits package is one of the best in the nation, and faculty members have consistently received annual cost of living and merit salary increases.
