Welcome to the College of Human Services, Education and
Public Policy (CHEP)!
CHEP's 425 faculty and staff, nearly 2,800 students and
over 22,000 alumni share a commitment to addressing some
of the most pressing intellectual and social challenges
of our time -- those affecting our children, our families,
our schools, our communities, the environment, consumers
and service institutions, and our public policies. CHEP
creates knowledge that addresses these challenges and prepares
professionals who will assume leadership in these critical
areas.
CHEP offers undergraduate degrees in 9 majors and 14 graduate
degrees that are responsive to public needs. We also carry
out an extensive program of research and service that both
contributes to people's well-being at the local, state,
national and international levels and provides unrivaled
learning opportunities for our students.
Interdisciplinary, professional and service-oriented, CHEP
has a unique integrative approach to education: we emphasize
hands-on learning experiences that blend theoretical concepts
and practical application. Our success -- and that of our
students -- is redefining how higher education responds
to many of the social challenges of our time.
As you explore the CHEP Web site, I hope you come to share
my excitement and enthusiasm about the efforts being undertaken
in our College.
Sincerely,
Tim Barnekov
Dean
