MINUTES

College Council Meeting of May 23, 2001 
College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy 
202 Allison Hall West, Noon to 1:30 PM 

Present: Paul Sestak, Kathleen Minke, Kristine Ritz, Elaine Stotki, Bob Warren, Pat Sine, Bahira Sherif, Michael Gamel-McCormick, Pamela Brown, Sylvia Brooks

Excused:  Janet Hethorn, Nancy Brickhouse, Barbara Curry 

The meeting was called to order by Chair Sestak at 12:12. 

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES

Motion to approve the Minutes of May 1 : Sine; second: Brooks; vote: unanimous. 

CHAIR'S REPORT

  • Chair Sestak thanked the Council for their input on the CHEP five year plan. He especially acknowledged Pam Brown's work on the survey last fall. 
DEAN'S REPORT
  • Elaine Stotko reported for Dean Rich. She noted that the priority statements are available on the web. Pat Sine added that most policies and forms are now available on the web under CHEP Business.  
COMMITTEE REPORTS

OLD BUSINESS
  • CHEP Five Year Plan
    • Council members were encouraged to notify their units about the availability of this information on the web. 
       
  • Nominations and appointments
    • The following individuals will be Council members next year (number in parentheses indicates whether the individual will be in the first or second year of the two year term):
      • IFS: Michael Gamel-McCormick (2), Bahira Sherif (1)
      • HRIM: Paul Sestak (1)
      • CNST: Janet Hethorn (2)
      • UAPP: Robert Warren (2), Raheemah Jabbar-Bey (2), one open position
      • SOE: Kathleen Minke (Chair, 2), Barbara Curry (2), Debra Knight (*), Fred Hofstetter (*), Laura Eisenman (*), Nora Hyland (*), Bill Moody (*)
        • * these terms must be staggered; some will be one year and some will be two year terms.

    • Representatives from the professional and salaried staffs (one each) must be selected. Chair Sestak will contact Becky Shepherd (Professional) and Jo Fitzpatrick (Salaried) to solicit new representatives.

    • Chair Sestak presented the slate of members for the Council Committees for 2001-02.  These were as follows:
      • P&T: Rob Palkovitz, Pam Cummings, Fran Mayhew, Bob Warren, Bob Hampel
      • Graduate Curriculum Committee: Martha Buell, Francis Kwansa, Jim Morrison, Kathy Denhardt, George Bear
      • Undergraduate Curriculum Committee: Aparna Bagdi, Bob Nelson, Belinda Orzada, Audrey Helfman, Shuaib Meacham.

    • Pat Sine moved that the slate be approved as presented; Gamel-McCormick, second; vote, unanimous.
