In the view of the authors of this website, it has been conclusively shown that medical abortions using RU-486 are just as safe and effective as surgical forms of abortion.  There is no conclusive reason as to why the FDA should not have approved the use of RU-486 in conjunction with medical abortions.  95% of abortions using RU-486 are effective compared to 99% of vacuum aspiration abortions.  RU-486 also offers woman more privacy and less chance of damage to the uterus.  The choice of which type of abortion is best, depends on the time frame and the personal choice of the woman.  Ultimately, the woman will have the choice of two equally effective, equally safe options -- RU-486 abortions and vacuum aspiration abortions.
