Why Don't Chemistry Majors Become High School Teachers?

A student preparing to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry/biochemistry should be aware of the many options available to them upon graduation.  Having this educational background will open many doors and allow the student the choice to follow many career paths.  One possibility to consider is becoming a high school teacher.  Summers off sound great, but is this profession really worth considering?  We will present you with information on the educational requirements, work environment, salary and benefits to help you assess this career versus the traditional roll of a chemist working in industry.
