Is
nuclear energy generation the only viable solution to the energy
problem?
The modern world faces
an ever-growing need for energy with a dwindling supply of viable
fossil fuels and the threat of increasing environmental damage due
to our prolonged dependance on these non-renewable resources.
Therefore, we must
seek viable power sources which will economically fulfill our energy
needs without further detriment to the world around us. One of the
key energy alternatives which has been developed is Nuclear Power.
Harnessing the immense power contained in a radioactive atom, such
as U-235 through controlled nuclear fission generates clean power
to replace current fossil fuels.

Unfortunately,
this energy does not come without a price: nuclear waste and contamination
pose serioius threats to the environment and humanity as a whole.
Additionally, the potential for reactor accidents limits the attractiveness
of nuclear power.
This
website hopes to offer an explanation of the workings of nuclear
energy generation, its advantages and disadvantages, as well as
an overview of some alterntaive energy sources, to show that nuclear
power may be a useful energy source, but must evolve before it can
become a viable solution to the current energy problem.
