1. Login to Sakai to set-up your E-Portfolio

2. Entry #1 into your E-Portfolio:

Identify a passage in “Last Child in the Woods” in which a statement of fact is followed by an opinion (there are many choices!). What lead you to conclude these statements were fact and opinion respectively? Do you agree with the opinion? If so, why? If not, what is your opinion on the topic?

3. Begin thinking about a group project you’d like to see the class develop over the semester. Be prepared to present, discuss and defend your idea in class next week.

Select two aspects of energy policy that are of greatest interest to you.

Briefly summarize Senator McCain’s and Obama’s positions on these two issues.

Compare and contrast their positions.

State which position(s) you are more aligned with and explain why.

Be prepared to present and defend your perspective(s) in class in two weeks.
