PhotoThe Organic Division congratulates Richard F. Heck, University of Delaware Emeritus Willis F. Harrington Professor, on winning the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry! Prof. Heck shares this prize with Prof. Ei-ichi Negishi from Purdue University and Prof. Akira Suzuki from Hokkaido University for decisive contributions to palladium-catalyzed cross couplings in organic synthesis. We are inspired by Prof. Heck’s impressive accomplishments and are honored to continue the strong tradition in developing metal-catalyzed methods at the University of Delaware. The far-reaching impact of Prof. Heck’s research is celebrated annually with the Heck Award and Lectureship, presented to researchers for their seminal contributions in organometallic and fundamental chemistry.
