Alumna Named Glenn T. Seaborg for Nuclear Chemistry Award Winner

You may recall Klaus's happy announcement of the selection of one of our former faculty colleagues, Arnie Rheingold (FAC 84-03), as the 2011 winner of the American Chemical Society Award for Distinguished Service in the Advancement of Inorganic Chemistry, sponsored by Strem Chemicals. I finally got around to reading the CHEMICAL & ENGINEERING NEWS issue (9/5/11) in which all of the 2011 ACS Awards are listed, and made a very pleasant discovery. One of our alumni, Silvia S. Jurisson (UD BS/CHEM/78), Professor of Chemistry at the University of Missouri, Columbia, has been named the 2011 winner of the Glenn T. Seaborg Award for Nuclear Chemistry, sponsored by the ACS Division of Nuclear Chemistry & Technology. If I recall correctly, our paths last crossed in May, 1980, when I lectured at the University of Cincinnati, where she was a pre-doctoral student.

Heartiest congratulations to Silvia!
