The Koh Group Labs.

Location:

The Koh Group labs are located in South Brown Labs (west of the corner of Academy and Lovett Streets)
and include rooms BRL 222, BRL265, BRL266, BRL269.  Within these rooms are contained much of the
needed equipment and instrumentation to perform a range of multidisciplinary projects at the interface of
chemistry and biology.

Molecular Design:

Three silicon graphics Octane workstations with access to Insight, Spartan and Flo/QXP support our
efforts in Molecular Design.

Chemical Synthesis:

A complete synthesis lab with ten six foot hoods and essentially a full complement of glassware and
instrumentation provides us the reasources to build the molecules we design.  Our synthesis efforts are
further supported by our departmental NMR, Mass spectrometry and x-ray service facilities.

Molecular biology:

Routine molecular biology techniques such as subcloning and mutagenesis protein expression (E. coli
and in vitro), radio-ligand binding assays, can be performed within our own laboratory.

Cell Biology:

We routinely analyze our designed molecules and protein-ligand systems in cultured cells.  Transient and
stable transfections are routinely performed in our labs own cell biology facility which includes three CO2
incubators, a class II biosafety hood and a Zeiss Axiovert phase-contrast microscope.  Cell stocks are
maintained at the Cell Biology Core Facility under the direction of Robert Nardone.
