A Letter From the Chairperson:

Dear Visitor,
Welcome to the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Delaware! Whether you are seeking information, help, or opportunity, if it concerns Chemistry in the First State, you have come to the right place.
Students, staff and faculty of this Department are united in our prime objective, namely ‘to be recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in chemical research and education at the graduate and undergraduate level’. The research of our award-winning faculty covers the whole breadth of the field and extends into neighboring disciplines. Our home - the three contiguous buildings of Brown Laboratory, Drake Hall and Lammot duPont Laboratory - offers over 200,000 square feet of modern research space equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and research instrumentation. With annual research expenditures approaching $ 10 Million, chances are we are working on something of interest to you.
Our instructional offerings include everything from introductory classes for nonscientists to highly specialized graduate courses. Laboratories around the clock, opportunities for research at every level, and multiple seminar series with invited speakers, round out the program. Circa 300 majors (in chemistry, biochemistry and chemical education) and 150 graduate students are in residence at any time. Whether you want to be a chemist, are interested in a collaboration, or looking to hire a chemist, we have what you need!
Our alumni are the most important measure of our continuing success. Numbering well over 3000 and spread all over the world, they are our true legacy. We are immensely proud of their achievements and deeply grateful for their unflagging support.
Please look around and become involved. We look forward to hearing from you.
With best regards,
Klaus Theopold |
