Prospective Graduate Student Information

General Information Regarding the Graduate Application Process

Although M.A., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are awarded, the Department normally admits students to one of the following two degree programs.

  1. M.A. in Chemistry/Biochemistry. This program is primarily intended for part-time graduate students wanting to gain a deeper understanding of chemical principles at an advanced level. Admission to the M.A. program does not include financial assistance from the Department.
  2. Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biochemistry. This program is intended for full-time students desiring an advanced degree in chemical or biochemical research. Admission to the Ph.D. program usually includes a financial assistance package from the Department that provides a stipend and tuition remission.

If you have questions about these programs or if you would like to apply for other programs (for example, part-time study toward a Ph.D. degree), please contact the Director of Graduate Studies:
