- Where is Newark DE? As the map to the right clearly demonstrates,
we are not in New Jersey.
- The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry occupies three
buildings: Lammot du Pont Laboratory (LDL), Quaesita Drake
Hall (QDH) and Brown Laboratory (BRL). The main offices are
in the front of Brown Lab (near the mall entrance). These are
shown on the campus Map together
with the nearest visitor parking lot.

By Car:
From the north:
- Take I-95 South
to Exit 1B, Route 896 North
(Do not take the first Newark exit for Route 273)
- Continue North on Route 896 (also South College Avenue)
(Continue
north on South College Avenue past the Carpenter Center,
Delaware stadium and field house until you reach
central campus)
- The visitor lot is located, on your left, next
to the Visitor Center, on S. College Ave.
- After parking,
cross S. College
- Go through mentors circle
- Through the double archway (toward
your left)
- The first building across from you is Brown Lab.
(During renovations, which should be completed by December
2007, enter Chemistry through theLammot DuPont
entrance. This is the building connected to, but, to the
right of, Brown
Laboratory.)
From Maryland and South:
- Take I-95
North to Exit 109B, Route 279 North
(Continue North on Route 279 (also Elkton/Newark
Road and Route 2 once in Delaware) for approximately
three
(3) miles)
- Turn right onto West Park Place, follow for
approximately 0.5 miles
- Turn left onto South
College Avenue, follow for approximately 0.2 miles
- The visitor
lot is located, on your left, next to the Visitor Center,
on South College Avenue.
- After parking, cross South College Avenue
- Go through mentors circle
- Through the double archway (toward your left)
- The first building across from you is Brown Laboratory
(During renovations, which should be completed by December
2007, enter Chemistry through Lammot DuPont Entrance. This
is the building connected to, but, to the right of Brown
Laboratory.)
From central Pennsylvania and west:
- From
Route 30, just east of Lancaster, follow Route 896 south
through Strasburg
and into Delaware. (This
will come into Newark from the north (where it is also
labeled Delaware 896 and New London Road))
- Turn right at Cleveland Avenue (the first light past
the Marriott Inn in Newark).
- Turn left at the next traffic light (West Main Street).
(West Main merges by a right turn
onto Elkton Road as you pass over the railroad tracks)
- Stay left and immediately merge onto
Delaware Avenue, a one-way street.
(Continue on Delaware Avenue
for two blocks
to South
College Avenue.
Turn right on South College Avenue. )
- The visitor lot is located on your right next to the
Visitor Center, on South College Avenue.
- After parking, cross South College Avenue
- Go through mentors circle
- Through the double archway (toward your left)
- The first building across from you is Brown Lab.

From southern Delaware and the Eastern Shore:
- Take
Delaware Route 1 North until you can get onto Delaware Route896
North.
- Follow Delaware 896 north.
(Delaware
896 becomes South College Avenue when you cross over
I-95.)
- Continue North on Route 896 (also South College Avenue)
(Continue north on South College Avenue past the

By Air: Fly to Philadelphia
International Airport (50 minutes away). Ground transportation
to and from the campus is provided by Delaware Express Shuttle
(800-648-5466)
By Bus: Greyhound/ Trailways
buses from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and
New
York City travel to Wilmington. To obtain a bus schedule, phone
Greyhound/Trailways at (302) 655-6111. The bus terminal in
near
the train station, so see below for local directions.
By Train: AMTRAK trains between
Florida and New England stop in Wilmington
on an almost-hourly basis. From the Wilmington train station,
it is a 20-minute ride to campus. Delaware Administration
for Regional Transportation (DART) buses transport passengers
between Wilmington
and
Newark. To contact DART, phone (302) 655-3381. Limited AMTRAK
service is
also available to Newark. To contact AMTRAK, phone (800) 523-8720.
SEPTA
provides commuter trains to and from Newark on the R2 line at
certain times
of the day. They are available from Wilmington and from 30th
Street station
in Philadelphia.
