The Glass Shop fabricates and repairs
custom apparatus or instruments for UD research and teaching labs.
It can also modify purchased items to better meet research needs. As
a convenience, the shop stores basic sizes of pyrex tubing. Customers
must supply all parts and products not in stock. Always purchase
quality pyrex or compatible glassware/parts
to ensure the best chance of any future repair. Feel free to schedule
an appointment for assistance with design options, locating parts/
products or other related
questions.

2. Bring a
print, sketch (or basic idea) and be sure to specify any critical
dimensions.
3.
Submit a “request for service form”, along with a chargeable
UD purpose code.
4. Let
me know if you require an estimate of project costs or completion
date.

Glass
Shop Fees
Chemistry & Biochemistry-
Grants will be charged for glass/supplies used.
All Other UD
Departments- Grants will be charged $40.00 per hour,
and for glass/supplies used.

Any
glassware brought in for repair or modification must be “clean”
and free of all contaminates. Your job will not be worked on
if this is not done properly. Some relatively harmless residues
can become quite hazardous (to me) at high temperatures.

See
me if your job is an emergency and I will try to accommodate
you if at all possible.

You
will be contacted (preferably by email) when your job is completed.

To
allow sufficient uninterrupted working time, please try to
drop off work between 8-9am and 1-2pm
whenever possible. However emergencies are welcome anytime.

Due
to vacation, working on-site, etc it is always a good idea
to phone before coming from another department.

The
Shop is closed between 12:00 and 1:00 for lunch.
