Nationals results

Words will do no justice for the accomplishments achieved by your own University of Delaware Spirit Teams this past weekend.  As the Spirit Advisor I can not be more proud of every single member of the cheer team, dance team and mascots.  With unshakable character, attitude and courage they competed against some of the most talented college teams in the country and when the dust settled and the scores were in, the University of Delaware came out not only true champions but achieved greatness on many different levels.  Opening the weekend, the three Delaware Partner Stunt couples made history.  These three amazingly talented couples, finally, after all their hard work, became nationally recognized as some of the best in the country.  Ben Schreiber and Stephanie Tucker placed 4th, Bill Mayo and Julie Weiss placed 2nd, and Seth Riblett and Gillian Guadagnino won the competition!  Winning 1st, 2nd and 4th place in this competition is an OUTSTANDING accomplishment and the first of its kind by any squad in the country.
The Cheerleading team also had a remarkable weekend.  This incredible group of sixteen athletes, through their sweat, tears and innumerable hours in the gym hit their routine with amazing perfection! This has not been done here at Delaware since 2001! The team placed 2nd in the Division-1 category for the second year running.
The dance team did a phenomenal on both their Jazz and Hip Hop routines! They tied for 9th place in their jazz and placed 5th in the nation for their Hip Hop routines. They had amazing creativity and choreography which captivated the crowd
The mascots with their creative and hilarious routine was one of the funniest brought down to Florida.  YoUDee and his IPOD routine incited hilarious laughter from the crowd and showed what a group of talented college students can create. They placed 5th in the nation and were among some of the best in Florida.
We should all be very proud of these young men and women; they all showed what it truly means to have Delaware Spirit.  In triumph and defeat, these Blue Hens showed unprecedented class and maturity.  Again, I could not be more proud of all they accomplished this weekend! GGOOOOO HENS!!!
