From the Blue & Gold Yearbook, 1945-46:

Of all the changes that have taken place on the Delaware campus in the last few years, there is one innovation which cannot be compared with pre-war conditions -- an all girl cheerleading squad. The group made its initial appearance at the first home basketball game of the season. Due to this group's untiring efforts, the attendance at the games increased, and enthusiasm and spirit grew steadily.

Routines were worked out for the most popular yells, including the "Delaware Locomotive," "Blue and Gold," and "Delaware Fight." George Catts added the finishing touches with backward flips and cartwheels.

Certainly, there is no doubt that this group has established a precedent and has earned itself a permanent place in the University's sports.
