With an original musical score, live singers, extraordinary puppets, and masks, Enchantment Theatre Company brings to life Margery Williams’ famous and much-loved tale of The Velveteen Rabbit. This innovative production combines the theatrical magic and signature style of Enchantment Theatre with the musical talents of Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award-winning composer Don Sebesky — creating an unforgettable experience for the whole family. Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Family Performing Arts Series
Gore Recital Hall - CFA
Folk duo Susie Burke and David Surette bring their dynamic style to Delaware in a program tailored just for families. Songs with great choruses, fun rounds and sing-a-longs, and a tune or two for moms and dads will make up this special-length performance. Before devoting her energies to music full-time, Burke worked as a day-care teacher; her love of kids is evident in the duo's wonderful, participatory concerts for children.
Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Tales & Scales reinvents the time-honored story of The Pied Piper with contemporary music, lively dance, the colorful poetry of Robert Browning, and their trademark transformations. Come see this unforgettable musical adventure by Broadway veterans Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens adapted especially for young audiences.

Newark: The Opera
Family Performing Arts Series

Newark: The Opera is a site-specific show written especially for and about Newark, Delaware as the town celebrates the 250th anniversary of its royal charter. This production will weave music, hometown stories, and local participation with aural and visual trickery. Squonk Opera, who created the hometown opera project, brings this multi-media, family friendly production to its first stop in the First State. “A quirky, playful, music-and image-driven piece of performance art that offers a nontraditional view of a place you thought you knew.” (Pittsburgh Tribune Review) Recommended for ages 7 and up.
This event was made possible, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
