Saturday, May 10 - 2008 8:00PM Sunday, May 11 - 2008 2:00pm Newark: The Opera Performing Arts Series Thompson Theatre - Roselle CFA Newark: The Opera is a site-specific show written especially for and about Newark, Delaware as the town celebrates the 250th anniversary of its royal charter. This production will weave music, hometown stories, and local participation with aural and visual trickery. Squonk Opera, who created the hometown opera project, brings this multi-media, family friendly production to its first stop in the First State. “A quirky, playful, music-and image-driven piece of performance art that offers a nontraditional view of a place you thought you knew.” (Pittsburgh Tribune Review) Recommended for ages 7 and up. This event was made possible, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
