Website
The University of Delaware Early Learning Center (ELC) provides quality care for children from age 6 weeks to 12 years in year-round, full-day early care and education. It also offers services and support for families in the community, experiential learning opportunities for University undergraduate and graduate students and cutting edge research in prevention, intervention, and education.
The state-of-the-art ELC facility is enhanced by small class sizes, low child-to-staff ratios, and a great deal of individualized attention from both the professional staff and the numerous University students who participate in clinical and research experiences at the Center. The Early Learning Center represents collaboration across campus and with the community at large.
The ELC received an initial grant from the U.S. Department of Education and has also been awarded the Twenty-First Century Grant for before- and after-school care, which will enable the Center to link to school districts in order to provide school-age children with assistance in targeted skills. The ELC has also received a grant from the Early Care Assistance Program, to help preschoolers develop the skills they need for later success.
