Initiated: 2008
Funding Agency: Denver Health
Project Summary:
The purpose of this study is to collect basic incidence data on the extent of the diversion of opioid prescription drugs (buprenorphine, carisoprodol, fentanyl, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, methadone, morphine, OxyContin®, generic OxyContin, “other” oxycodone and Palladone®, among others) from a nationwide sample of pharmaceutical diversion investigators from all fifty states and Puerto Rico. 300 diversion investigators were sought from rural, suburban, and urban areas in an effort to obtain information on the total number of alleged, new cases of diversion reported to/investigated by the diversion unit.
