GLADYS IBAÑEZ
GLADYS IBAÑEZ (Ph.D.in psychology, Georgia State University, 2002) is an Associate Scientist at the Center’s Miami office and the project coordinator for the NIDA-funded 4 year project entitled “Understanding the Scope and Magnitude of Prescription Drug Diversion”. More recently, she led a research study to examine sexual risk behaviors of bisexual women in the South Florida area. Prior to joining the center in 2008, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. She brings to the center research expertise regarding HIV and communities of color, particularly immigrant and Latino populations. She also has experience in designing and developing HIV prevention interventions with sexual minorities and drug-using populations. Her research interests are HIV prevention, sexual minorities, youth, and communities of color. She is on the consulting editorial board of AIDS and Behavior, and has numerous presentations and publication in the areas of HIV, substance use, and immigrant populations.
