Homework Assignment #2

Assigned After the April, 2008 Training Sessions

Due Sunday, May 4th

This homework assignment has two parts that are defined below. Both parts are to be submitted by each team to Cara Robinson via email (carmbri@udel.edu) by the end of the day (11:59 pm) on Sunday, May 4^th.

Part 1: Based on the readings by Kretzmann and McKnight on identifying and using Community Assets to engage in Community Development, and Walker’s article on Building from Strength: Asset Based Community Development, create an “Asset Map” for your Blueprint Community. There are examples in the readings.

Your team’s submittal for Part 1 should consist of no more than 3 typewritten pages with 1” margins, 1.5 line spacing and a 12 point font size.

Part 2: Respond to the following three items in a manner that will help your team work together in a manner that minimizes conflict and maximizes success throughout the planning process.

a) Develop “ground rules” for your team which stipulate how meetings will be conducted, how team members will interact with each other during meetings and planning sessions, and what the primary roles and responsibilities of each team member will be.

b) Describe your team’s decision making process and decision making rules.

c) Define what “consensus” means for your team as you carry out the community planning process.

Your team’s submittal for Part 2 should consist of no more than 3 typewritten pages with 1” inch margins, 1.5 line spacing and a 12 point font size.
