This module illustrates the heating of a reaction vessel. An
interactive spreadsheet calculates the temperature vs time for
several independent variables, and illustrates graphically the
over-heating and possible cycling which can result from too rapid
heating. The spreadsheet is available for downloading as a .WKS
file which can be read by many Macintosh or Windows spread sheet
programs. (e.g., Excel, Quatro Pro).
The students are asked to find optimum conditions as an
assignment. It is used a part of a course on Principles of
Chemical Engineering.
