COLLEGES

Each of the University of Delaware’s seven colleges is represented by a Director of Development, as is the University Library. Your gifts can be designated for use by specific colleges or departments, or for the University of Delaware Initiative Fund.

College of Agriculture and Natural Resources
The College offers 17 majors, including agriculture economics, animal science, bioresources engineering technology, food science and technology, horticulture, natural resource management and wildlife conservation. It has an enrollment of 694 undergraduate and 164 graduate students. The College has world-class programs in poultry diagnostics, environmental soil science, and landscape horticulture, the latter through the Longwood Graduate Program. It is home to the Allen Biotechnology Laboratory, considered among the finest of its kind in the world.

College of Arts and Science
The College is the largest at the University of Delaware, with 8,156 undergraduate and 1,073 graduate students. It has 27 departments, ranging from English, history and anthropology to chemistry and biochemistry, computer and information sciences, and physics and astronomy. The College is home to the graduate-level Professional Theatre Training Program. Graduates include MacArthur Fellows in 1998 and 1999 and Rhodes Scholars in 1991 and 1998.

College of Business and Economics
The College offers undergraduate majors in accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing and operations management. It offers a master’s degree in accounting, a master’s degree and Ph.D. in economics, and a part-time, full-time and executive MBA program. It has four departments – accounting and information systems, business administration, economics and finance. The College has an enrollment of 2,062 undergraduate and 552 graduate students. It houses the nationally recognized Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship, the Family Business Center, the Small Business Development Center, and the new Center for Corporate Governance.

College of Engineering
The College is recognized for teaching and research, and houses one of the top 10 chemical engineering departments in the nation. It has an enrollment of 1,011 undergraduate and 436 graduate students who study in the Departments of Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The College is home to the Centers for Applied Coastal Research, Biomedical Engineering Research, Catalytic Science and Technology, Composite Materials and Molecular and Engineering Thermodynamics.

College of Health and Nursing Sciences
The College offers nine undergraduate and five graduate degrees. It has five units – the departments of health and exercise science, medical technology, nursing, nutrition and dietetics, and the division of special programs – and an enrollment of 1,400 undergraduate and 178 graduate students. The exercise and sport science program includes work with Olympic athletes who train at the University as part of the Ice Skating Science Development Center. The College also is home to the Wellness Center.

College of Human Resources, Education and Public Policy
The College mission is public service. It has an enrollment of 2,140 undergraduate and 600 graduate students enrolled in programs including education and early childhood development, family and community services, apparel design and fashion merchandising, hotel, restaurant and institutional management, and public policy. The College is home to 12 centers, including the Center for Community Development and Family Policy, the Center for Disabilities Studies, the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, and the Delaware Center for Teacher Education.

College of Marine Studies
The College, which is ranked among the nation’s top 10 marine education institutions, works to advance the knowledge, use, and conservation of the ocean and its resources. It offers academic programs in marine biology-biochemistry, marine policy, oceanography, and physical ocean science and engineering. It has an enrollment of 105, all graduate students. Researchers recently returned from Extreme 2000, the first deep-sea expedition of the century, during which they studied hydrothermal vents in the Sea of Cortés off Mexico.
