| How can you support the University of Delaware? ANNUAL GIVING Annual Giving is a continuous fund-raising appeal made throughout the year by the University of Delaware to its alumni, parents and friends to provide ongoing financial support for academic programs and student services. Annual Giving provides the Universitys college deans, department chairs and program directors with a steady stream of unrestricted funds that can be used for scholarships, student aid, special services, equipment and projects. Appeals are recurrent to help University alumni establish and maintain philanthropic goals. Such unrestricted gifts are of vital importance to the University because they enable each college, department and program to use the resources where they are of most immediate need. These funds also enable administrators to take advantage of important educational opportunities as they present themselves. In short, they provide the University flexibility and thus enrichment throughout the academic year. Restricted gifts, while also very important to the mission of the institution, are locked in to specific purposes such as named scholarships or professorships. A key element of Annual Givings outreach efforts is our telephone solicitation program, or the Fund for Delaware. The program employs more than 100 UD students who will be glad to discuss the Universitys exciting initiatives, to receive news or comments you would like to share, to record your gift or pledge, and to answer questions you might have about the University. If you have not received an Annual Giving call or letter and would like to be included, please contact us. |
