Dr. Ami Klin from Yale University is collecting data on the number of individuals in the
US who are diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome.
IInformation about Yale's AS Project can be found on the Research Project area of OASIS.
I hope you'll agree to help. I feel it is so important that we stand and be counted. If you belong to any local support groups or know of others diagnosed with AS, please
share the question with them. Also, please post on any other newsgroups or message boards or if you have a web
site and would be willing to add the question and a link to their e-mail address, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your help!
Does your child, or a member of your family, currently carry a diagnosis of Asperger syndrome (i.e., the
diagnosis was assigned to that person person by a mental health professional as the result of a professional
evaluation or consultation)? If more than one person in the family carries the diagnosis, please mention all family
members. But please remember:
provide information only about individuals who have been seen by a mental health professional in the context of a
formal evaluation consultation.
Please also include individuals for whom, as a result of such an evaluation or consultation, the diagnosis of Asperger
syndrome
was included as a likely but not definitive diagnosis (i.e., it was suggested as a "rule out").
For each person you believe fulfills these criteria, please give (in one string of
characters) the first three letters of the first name, the first three letters of the last name, the two digits corresponding
to the person's year of birth, and the two letter indicating the person's current State of residency.
So for example, John Smith born in 1960 and living in Connecticut would be JOHSMI60CT. The reason for
adopting this code is to ensure that the same individual is not counted twice, while protecting the anonymity of the
information.
