Most of these links have absolutely nothing to do with Asperger Syndrome although some
are sites owned by people who have an AS family member. They are listed because "hey, this is the internet" and
"while you're here why not take advantage ...er...
waste some time?..."
These are just a few of the sites that I really like or have been recommended by friends.
Suggestions for other sites are definitely welcome!
Send me an e-mail
with your ideas.
Bobolink Dairy
Located between Vernon, New Jersey and Warwick, New York, they are the makers of grass-fed raw-milk cheeses
and wood-fired breads. Visit their web site at www.cowsoutside.com
Littlecrow Trading Post
This website is entirely Native-American related, but is written not only for Indians but will also interest
non-natives who want to learn something about native cultures.
- Mosaic Doc Studio
This is a link to the web site of Tanya C. Warwick, M.D. who is a Mosaic Artist as well as a
Neurologist. I think her work is amazing and it has inspired me to attempt a new hobby (Mosaic that is, not Neurology).
- Suzknits
This the web site of a small company which makes limited edition fleece and
handknit clothing. They sell some very beautiful and unique items.
- Fiber Art
by Elizabeth Spilker
I am a huge fan of art quilts and fiber art. This artist
has some beautiful quilts in her online gallery. I have the perfect spot in my house for
her "Legends of the Fall"... (in my "dream" house that is.. but if I can't have them
for my own, I still enjoy looking at them) Visit her site and enjoy her work.
- Lisa Winlock Art Quilts
I love art
quilts and fiber art and Lisa is a wonderful artist who produces beautiful art quilts.
I own and enjoy two of her pieces and would love to own more. Take the time to visit her page
and enjoy her works of art.
- Santa Beanie
This is a network of volunteers (elves) who team together each
year to collect and deliver new Beanie Babies to children in hospitals,
homes, shelters and clinics. You can purchase new Beanies to donate, volunteer
to sew "sleeping bags" and if you're one of those people who have
a large stash of Beanie Babies hidden in in the hopes of some day making
a million dollars why not share a few (or several) with this terrific organization.
They are also looking for "Elves" to deliver the Beanies. What a great way to
involve your children in volunteerism.
- GayleLynds.com
Actually this web site does have something to do with AS in that it's the site of writer
Gayle Lynds, who, with the late Robert Ludlum, penned THE HADES FACTOR. This
"Covert-One" Suspense Novel introduced an AS character named Marty. (As a long-time Ludlum
fan, I was also thrilled to discover that the OASIS site itself was mentioned on page 339.
How COOL is that??) Marty returned in a third Covert-One Novel, THE PARIS OPTION, released in
June 2002, in which OASIS receives another mention.
Click Here to read an excerpt.
Gayle's book, MESMERIZED will be out in paperback in May. Visit her site, tell her I sent
you and I HIGHLY recommend her books! And if you buy them through the OASIS bookstore at
www.aspergersyndrome.org/bookstore.html you'll be helping to support the OASIS web site.
-
Perpetual bubble wrap A great stress reducer.
- National Gallery of Art
Take a virtual tour. Of course, it's better in real life.
On the other hand, there are no lines.
- Puzzlemaker Recommended by
a friend who wrote: "This is a blast. It's from the Discovery Channel and it lets you make
crossword puzzles, word searches, etc. etc. for your kids using your word
choices. It also has loads of other fun stuff in case your little ones don't
like crosswords."
- Blue Mountain Electronic Greeting Cards
Create an online animated greeting card for birthdays, holidays or just to cheer someone up.
- Troutfishing In America If
you're *really* tired of "Wee Sing Silly Songs" and "Raffi" and are
looking for music for your kids that you can enjoy too, I highly recommend
Troutfishing In America.
(Plus they let me use the lyrics from one of their songs on O.A.S.I.S. - nice people)
