Family Matters: Contributions From
Family and Friends

I would like to thank Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet for giving permission to post the lyrics from their wonderful song "Count on Me". This song expresses very clearly how I feel about all of my kids, but for those of us who have children who have disabilities, it seems particularly meaningful.

For those of you who have never heard of this duo, you're missing something special. While their music is "technically" directed at children, their original songs (which are a combination of rock and roll, folk, and, at times, downright silliness) are something that can be thoroughly enjoyed by all ages. From songs like "It's Mine (and you can't have it) to "Wheels on the Big Rig" to "Proper Cup of Coffee" to "My World", their music is fun for all. Please visit their website at www.troutmusic.com and if you're looking for music that you can enjoy as much as your kids, I HIGHLY recommend TROUTFISHING IN AMERICA!

COUNT ON ME

Well you can count on your fingers,
               And you can count on your toes;
Count the freckles on your freckledly face,
Or the hairs in your Daddy's nose,

But you can count on me,
'cause I'll always be your friend.
Count on me, I'll say it time and time again.

Yeah, when things get a little weird,
               Hey, and everything goes crazy,
               You know I won't disappear,
'Cause weird doesn't even faze me.
               You can count on me
through all these mixed up days.
Count on me, you know I'm never far away.

There are oysters in the ocean,
making pearls from little grains of sand,
And there's coal beneath the mountain
               that turns to diamonds.
Well I can turn your darkest night
;                Into the brightest day you've ever had.
So count to 10 if you're angry,
but count on me if you're sad.

Sometimes I act a little spoiled
And sometimes I lost my patience,
Hey, and I can get so worked up and worried
That my good sense escapes me,
But you can count on me,
'cause I can put these things behind me.
               Count on me,
you'll always know where to find me.
               Count on me,
'cause I'll always be your friend.
