Asperger Syndrome: Kid's Corner

Beauty

Through the eyes of Shaun Bickley
13.75 years old

I look from sky to sea to shore,
As the waves caress the sand.
I take all in and more,
           What a resplendent land.
Above me as dawn breaks clear,
I break from trot to run.
I cannot help but shed a tear,
At the glory of the sun.
           Radiantly the seashells beam,
As I look with eyes so keen.
           Beautiful this world I deem,
More splendor than I have ever seen.
They say beauty is in the beholder's eye,
That it all depends on your point of view.
But I know this to be a lie,
Because I see things with another hue.
           Beauty is all around you,
You just have to open your eyes.
Life is what you make of it, what you do,
Make your bonds, make your ties.
           Just don't let beauty die.
For that would be a reason to cry.
It all starts from our hearts.
Have love for all creatures great and small.
And nothing can stop you, no cage, no wall.
This I promise is true, do all that you can do.
           Use your heart.
