

Dr. Bauer is a developmental pediatrician at the Pediatric Development Center of
Unity Health in Rochester, New York. He grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He obtained his undergraduate
degree from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from the University of
Michigan Medical School. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at the
University of California Medical School in San Francisco. Following his
pediatric training he completed a Master of Public Health degree at the
Harvard School of Public Health where he specialized in Maternal and Child
Health and Child Development.
For ten years prior to assuming his present position in Rochester Dr.
Bauer worked in rural Maine as both a primary care and developmental
pediatrician at a non-profit Child Health Center which he co-founded. As
part of his duties there he served on interdisciplinary teams involved in the
evaluation of children with many types of developmental disorders. He has
served as a consultant to a variety of state and private agencies, and to
BOCES programs, in Maine and New York and has frequently presented to parent
and professional groups on topics related to developmental problems in
children. In 1995 he authored a review article on autism in the American
Academy of Pediatrics journal, Pediatrics in Review . His particular
interests within developmental pediatrics include children with all levels of
autism and attentional and learning problems in school-age children. In
Rochester he serves on the Board of Directors of The Norman Howard School for
children with learning disabilities, the advisory board of the GRADDA
support organization for families of children with ADD, and other community
and school-based task forces related to autism, ADD and other developmental
issues.
Dr. Bauer lives in Pittsford with his wife and daughter.
