Ph.D. Degree Course Requirements
(beyond those for the Master's courses)
- Plan of Study
Coursework must be specified in the student's planned program of study.
- 11 courses total
The Doctor of Philosophy in Biomechanics and Movement Science requires 33 credits of graduate-level coursework beyond the master's degree and 9 credits of dissertation.
- 1 in Experimental Design or Statistics
The 33 credits of coursework must include at least 3 credits of Experimental Design or Statistics.
- 1 in Instrumentation, Computing, or Engineering
The 33 credits of coursework must also include at least 3 credits of coursework in Instrumentation, Computing, or Engineering applications.
- 2 outside area of study
Six of the 33 credits of coursework must come from areas outside of the student's principal area of study.
- 3 BIOMS seminar courses (0 credit)
In addition, students must register for and attend 3 semesters of Seminar (BMSC 865).
- Up to 4 Independent Study courses
Students in the Doctoral degree program are allowed to take a maximum of 12 credits of independent study and a maximum of 6 credits of research (BMSC 868). However, the combined number of credits from research and independent study courses may not exceed twelve.
