Student OrganizationsBeta Beta BetaBeta Beta Beta (Tri-Beta) is a national biological sciences honor society that provides members an opportunity to get to know their fellow biology majors and professors on a more social level, to participate in community and campus service, and to learn more about the field of biology. Activities include sponsorship of guest speakers who talk about their biological research, an annual symposium for undergraduate researchers, and social events that provide resources for making decisions about courses, the biology major, and career opportunities in biology. Consult the Tri-Beta Web site for more information about the society, its membership requirements, and for contact information. Pre-Dental SocietyThe Pre-Dental Society at the University of Delaware was established as a resource where students interested in dentistry can find support and advice pertaining to their career paths. Our mission is to provide the necessary resources in order to ensure the success of students pursing a career in dentistry. This mission is accomplished through dental school admissions and strategy seminars, guest speakers, trips to dental schools, resume workshops, personal statement workshops, DAT practice tests, and many other beneficial programs designed to alleviate the strenuous task of being accepted to dental school. The Pre-Dental Society is open to anyone intending on pursuing a career in dentistry, and welcomes all of those who are interested to join. For more information you may contact Michael Rosen, the president of the society, at mrosen@udel.edu. EDucate for a CureEDucate for a Cure is an organization that was created in honor of Erin Donnelly, who attended the University of Delaware for two years until she passed away in the Fall of 2004 from a type of soft-tissue cancer. Our goals are to raise awareness around the college community about cancer and to raise money to help research cancer and treat cancer patients. During the 2004-2005 academic year we raised about $1,000 to treat and research cancer by holding fundraisers like kickball tournaments and co-sponsoring other events around campus. We are always looking for more members to help us with our cause. If you are interested in joining or learning more about us, visit our web site. Donations are also welcome. These are just three of over 200 student organizations at the University of Delaware. These diverse organizations allow students to participate in a wide range of activities, from music and sports to wildlife conservation and environmental activism. Consult the University of Delaware's Registered Student Organizations web site for an organization that matches your interests. |
