Why are paper bills being replaced?
The University has decided to implement eBilling to enhance student customer service. It provides both students and parents a fast and efficient way to view charges on their student account. Students already have the ability to view their account balance on the UDSIS (www.udel.edu/udsis-student).
Now with eBilling — parents can also have the convenience of viewing their son/daughter’s billing detail online.
While researching and surveying other institutions, University of Delaware found high levels of customer satisfaction from students/parents using eBilling. In addition, several University applications and processes are already paperless or electronic. University of Delaware online services currently include:
- Applying for admissions
- Registering and viewing class schedules
- Obtaining grades
- Viewing a class syllabus
- Making Electronic check
- Direct deposit of refunds
E-mail and web based services have become primary ways to communicate on campus and throughout the world. Electronic billing continues this initiative and with the web culture that students have become accustomed to. This initiative also supports the University of Delaware’s commitment to a sustainable campus.-
The University has designated electronic billing as the official means of generating tuition bills. Paper statements will no longer be mailed as of the Winter 2009 Billing (November 2008). All currently enrolled students will receive an eBill. Each time a bill is available, an e-mail will be sent to your preferred e-mail address. It will also be sent to the billing secondary e-mail address, if you have provided one to the university through UDSIS. If the student does not have access to the Internet or has a disability preventing them from accessing the eBill, the student can petition for a paper bill be mailed. Please contact the Billing and Collection Department.
How do I print a paper copy of my bill?
Students can print and distribute hard copies of their tuition bill for family members or other payers assisting with tuition payment.
Students can print a copy of their eBill easily using their personal computer. Students may also use the Student Services Building or computer labs located around campus.
If I make a payment, can I view it on my Electronic bill immediately ?
Not at this time because the Electronic bill is a monthly billing statement. Payments made to your account will be reflected on your next Electronic Bill if you still have an outstanding balance. However, students can verify payments posted in real-time by logging onto UDSIS via www.udel.edu/udsis-student. Under the Finances tab click the ‘Summary’ link.
This option will be available in the coming year as development is in progress to provide real-time information with the eBill so that both students and parents can benefit from having this information available.
