The Publications Committee of the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) is seeking preliminary proposals for special publications. Each year, ACEI publishes an average of 2 books (80 to 96 pages or 150 to 180 double-spaced manuscript pages). We are interested in
expanding our publishing activities to include unsolicited manuscripts.
These publications might describe desirable conditions, programs and practices for children from infancy through early adolescence; offer the means for improving the education professionals’ level of preparation; focus attention on the rights and needs of children and how they might be addressed.
All manuscripts would be subject to peer review. To proceed with Committee review, proposals should take the following format.
Guidelines for Submitting a Prospectus
- Rationale: Explain why the publication is important and timely. Relate the theme to current or emerging trends, developments and theory in the field.
- Scope and Sequence: Provide an outline that clearly defines the development and goals of the text.
- Market Potential: To what audience is the publication directed? Describe the feasibility of other sales, such as specific courses or inservice sessions.
- Comparative Analysis: Provide a brief discussion comparing and contrasting your book with a listing of similar or related published works. Particularly, how is your book different, better, more complete?
- Manuscript Particulars: Establish and present a timeline for project completion. Base this timeline on book acceptance as a starting point. Indicate the approximate pages of text (typed, double-spaced); of graphics (tables, figures, photographs, illustrations); of appendices and bibliographies.
- Sample Chapter: Enclose at least one completed chapter that is representative of your writing and organizational style.
- Vita: Enclose a vita that particularly conveys through background, education, research and publications your expertise and qualifications for undertaking the described writing project.
Proposals (4 copies of items 1 through 7) should be addressed to:
