ROLE OF THE PRESIDENTS' COUNCIL

The Presidents' Council includes Presidents, Immediate Past Presidents and Presidents-Elect of State, Province, and International Branches.

PURPOSES

  • To provide opportunity for discussion of the cooperation of Local/State/Province/ International Branches of ACEI
  • To receive recommendations and resolutions from the constituency of the Presidents' Council's members
  • To make recommendations and resolutions to the ACEI Executive Board
  • To receive recommendations and communications from the ACEI Executive Board, Staff and Program Chairs
  • To promote ACEI's Mission, Strategic Goals, Programs, and interests
  • To aid in membership recruitment
  • To aid in new and revitalizing branches
  • To assist selected students attending ACEI's Annual International Conference

GOALS

The Presidents' Council's general goals are to:
  • To promote ACEI
  • To promote branches in general
  • To promote international branches
  • To aid student members of ACEI
Specific goals for 2002 - 2003

1. Promote and develop membership internationally by actively supporting Branch Development.
  • Presidents' Council's President-Elect will designate a State, Province or Country President's Council member to make a personal contact by letter, phone, or email to groups requesting Branch Start-Up Kits or expressing interest in ACEI membership world-wide.
  • The purpose of contact will be to serve as a mentor or contact person.
2. Help promote the sharing of information world-wide and encourage active cooperation by opening Presidents' Council meetings at the Annual International Conference to representatives of Student/Local Branch representatives (President, President-Elect, Past President, and Student Branch Advisors) as well as State, Province and Country representatives.

OFFICERS

Officers are elected every two years at the Annual International Conference. The President-Elect, from the past election, becomes President and the outgoing President becomes the Liaison to the International's Executive Board. The current officers are:

GENERAL

State and Country Branches are requested to pay $20.00 annually to the President's Council to defray the cost of branch awards, student grants, communications and mailing costs.

Members and officers receive three communications and a newsletter from the Presidents' Council each year. Non-members and other interested individuals may access the information on ACEI's web page - www.acei.org.

Meetings are held at the ACEI Annual International Conference. Business matters may include:
  • receiving branch reports
  • discussing and making recommendations to the Executive Board
  • approving awards
  • interacting with members, Branch Relations Manager, Membership, Week of the Classroom Teacher and Program Chairs
  • problem solving
  • others as determined by members.
