COURSE GRANTS THE PAUL R. JONES INITIATIVE
The Black American Studies Program with support from the Office of the Provost and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences announces a call for proposals for course development/redesign for the 2006-07 academic year in support of the Paul R. Jones Initiative. The Paul R. Jones Initiative supports the Paul R. Jones Collection of African American Art through educational programs, exhibitions, leadership training, and scholarly research. The course development/redesign grant program encourages faculty to utilize the Collection in their teaching. Out aim is to enhance the utilization of the Collection in the university curriculum.
The Collection comprises art created by African Americans and spans over forty years of collecting by Paul R. Jones. Gifted to the University of Delaware in 2001, the Collection is a vital educational resource. With the integration of the Collection into the university curriculum, an appreciation of African American artistic creativity and understanding of the African American experience is gained.
