Black American Studies students can enhance their knowledge about the Diaspora through participating in African- and Caribbean-based study abroad programs. Two such programs, Barbados and South Africa, are designed to expose students to not only the “typical” study abroad experience but also to give them a more in-depth involvement with residents through service-learning placements in organizations that serve families in local communities.
