Want
to Find Out About Job Openings? There is no one single source for
all teacher job openings in the state.
Newspapers and Websites. You may find some positions advertised in newspapers or at the websites listed below, but note that districts and schools may only advertise especially hard-to-fill positions this way. Don't base your job search exclusively on these resources.

District Websites. Your best strategy is to identify districts and charters within your geographic search area and routinely check their websites for openings. The chart below lists all districts and charter schools with grade levels eligible for the ARTC program organized by county. Links to Human Resources offices are included when available. You should also use these sites to determine how your target districts or schools handle applications (i.e., do they just want an application when a specific job opens? or do they want an application (or resume) on file before a specific position is posted?)
ARTC Request Form and Database. Use
the request form available
at this site to provide the ARTC office with contact information.
If you indicate that the information you provide can be shared with
schools, we will add you to our database of potential candidates to
share with schools and districts, and e-mail your contact information
to personnel offices.
Job Fairs. Check our home page for upcoming job fairs. These are typically held in the spring. Just don't expect that districts will be hiring on the spot. Most will be collecting resumes and conducting preliminary interviews for positions that may become available later in the summer.
Do Your Homework! Not sure where all these schools/districts are located? Check
out the Department of Education's maps of public
school districts & charter schools.
Want to know more about particular districts or schools? Check
out school profiles
at the Delaware Department of Education website.
Some Tips on Applications, Resumes & Interviews.
Praxis Tests. Already having passing Praxis I and II scores is a big plus in the job hunt!
Networking. If you
have a particular school in mind, make an appointment to introduce yourself
to the vice principal or department chair in your subject area and leave your resume.
Substitute Teaching. If you are
able, sign on as a sub! This can be an excellent way to develop classroom skills and become known
to school personnel. Contact
the district or school for more information, or sign up with a substitute service like Kelly Educational Services, 302-323-4748 and Substitute
Teacher Service, 800-357-7827. Note that long-term subs (those hired for more than a few days) are always advertised separately by the hiring district. These can be especially helpful in gaining experience and positioning yourself for a permanent position.
Curious About Salaries? Pay may vary from district to district, and depends on your academic credentials and years of teaching experience. This is public information, and many school districts post pay scales
on their websites.
