The Visual Communications degree program is a 3-year program of study within the Art Department that follows one full year of Foundation Art courses. Application to the VC program requires previous completion of the first year Foundation Art credit requirements in the Art Department or approved equivalents from another program. The Visual Communications curriculum is intended to inspire inquiry in the art of communication design and to facilitate the development applicable skills in various creative processes. The degree path begins with graphic design fundamentals and leads each student toward a self-motivated career in the applied arts through a variety of required and elective courses in graphic design, advertising, illustration and new media. The Visual Communications degree (BFA in Visual Communications) requires that all students successfully complete all 3 years of the program at UD, (typically Sophomore, Junior and Senior Years). Students are accepted to the Visual Communications degree program through the application process described on the Visual Communications website. The ONLY due date for applications is at the end of May. See the Visual Communications website for the specific date. Students may not apply to the Visual Communications degree program at any other time and by any other means. Visual Communications majors are required to receive a grade of C or better in all required courses to continue in the degree path. |
