Senior Class Gift
As your time as an undergraduate is drawing to a close, we hope
you are taking this semester to celebrate your years at the University
of Delaware, to enjoy the special friendships you have made, and
to appreciate the impact of your class on this institution.
The senior class gift is just one way the Class of 2009 can further
develop your legacy. So how does this work?
Step 1: Form a committee
The senior class gift committee raises awareness,
gathers ideas and gains support for the class gift. All students
can participate on the committee. Simply sign
up today!
Step 2: Gather Ideas - Tell Us

Below are ideas that have been submitted from
students throughout the past few weeks. Please let
us know your top 5 choices:
Gift Suggestion:
- GPS Bus Locators
- Campus security cameras using sustainable equipment
- Dorm Metering (track energy expended in residence halls)
- Additional Bike Racks (reduce carbon emissions)
- Solar Panels
- Create a Virtual Map to locate areas where carbon footprint
is a problem and solutions (ie. Where are recycling containers,
bike racks, etc).
- Wireless Campus
- Community Awareness Program (improve relations with local Newark
community. Include monument, state markers and walking tour)
- Purchase Hybrid Vehicle for Public Safety
- Francis Allison Statue (founder of UD)
- Blue Hen Statue (YoUDee Statue)
- Solar Powered Lighting Around Campus
- Online Yearbook (names, photos and notes)
- Message Board on the North Green at Main Street
- Green Roofs (Colburn Lab)
- More Recycling Receptacles on Campus (brown lab, gore hall,
residence halls, memorial, etc)

- More Computer Stations Around Campus
- Handicap Accesible Ramp from North Green to Main Street
- Environmentally Friendly Cleaning Products
- Motion Sensor Lights Around Campus

- Locally Grown, Organic Food in Food Courts and/or Dining Halls
- Compost program for University Dining Halls
- Capture Energy using Exercise equipment
- Additional Fuel Cell Buses
Step 3: Vote for the Class Gift
Once ideas have been submitted, the committee
will identify the top gift ideas and put them on-line for student
voting. You can only vote once.
Step 4: Spread the Word and Give
At the completion of voting, the finalized class
gift will be announced. The more students who participate, the
more successful your class will be. Or... You can always give
now!
