In the past, you may have received a phone call from
the University of Delaware, but did you know who was
on the other end of the line? The Fund for Delaware
is telefund program that employs approximately 150
UD students each year from every college within the
University. They are bright and enthusiastic students
who are earning money to help pay for their educational
expenses. Their job is to provide outreach to our
alumni, parents and friends by announcing events and
new programs, updating biographical information, and
answering questions.
Operating since 1982, the Fund for Delaware and its
students are also responsible for seeking out financial
support, helping the University to make fundraising
more personal. The students are kept knowledgeable
on current UD initiatives and programs, understand
the financial needs and priorities of each college
and are able to help identify areas of support that
means the most to you. Quite often, our students also
share their own personal experiences and what college
life is like today - which could be quite different
depending on your graduation year. It's a great way
to keep connected, especially for those who are unable
to visit campus on a regular basis.
While fundraising and keeping our friends connected
with the University are primary functions of the program,
the Fund for Delaware is also committed to
fostering the educational opportunities at UD by providing
a 'resume building' job experience. Significant time
is spent helping our students develop solid skills
such as effective communication. In addition, the
program centers on team competition and many friendships
have evolved over the years - some that may even last
a lifetime.
We hope you enjoy hearing from our student callers.
The next time you receive a call from the Fund for
Delaware, we encourage you to ask questions, stay
connected with UD and share your enthusiasm and experiences
with our student callers.
