Freshman Family Weekend is designed especially for parents
and families of new freshman and transfer students. Parents
and Family Weekend, November 2-4, is
designed for parents and families of all undergraduate students.
While parents and families are welcome to attend the weekend
that is most convenient for them, parents and families of
new freshman and transfer students are especially encouraged
to attend Freshman Family Weekend if their schedules allow!

Faculty Exhibition 2007
11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. • University Gallery, Old College
Comprising work by over twenty UD Faculty artists, this exhibition explores surprising new trends in contemporary art. Numerous media are explored among the works on view, including interactive video, installation, mixed media, painting, sculpture, photography and works on paper. Artists represented include Virginia Bradley, Justyna Badach, Dave Brinley, Martha Carothers, William Deering, Abby Donovan, Colette Gaiter, Vera Kaminski, Rene Marquez, David Meyer, Robyn Phillips Pendleton, Ashley Pigford, Priscilla Smith, Robert Straight, Peter Williams, Lance Winn, Hilton Brown and Amalia Amaki.

Dinner at the Blue & Gold Club - SOLD OUT
Seatings at 5:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. • 44 Kent Way
The Blue & Gold Club offers fine food, sparking service and an elegant atmosphere to the University community. The buffet dinner features potato leek soup, tossed seasonal greens with balsamic vinaigrette, Nantucket-baked salmon with brandied shrimp sauce, grilled chicken breast with tomato ginger chutney, penne pasta a la vodka with assorted grilled vegetables, lyonnaise potatoes, fresh vegetable medley and assorted desserts.
Dinner is $19.70 per person for adults and $9.75 for children ages 5 to 11, gratuity included. Proper attire is required: no jeans, sneakers, or t-shirts permitted. For reservations and information, call (302) 831-2582.
Chicago Comedy Company
7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. • Mitchell Hall
The Chicago Comedy Company, presented by the Student Center Programming Advisory Board (SCPAB) begins the weekend on Friday with two hilarious improvisational comedy performances at 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. in Mitchell Hall. The Chicago Comedy Company prides itself on its comedic performances that will entertain the entire family.
Tickets are $10 for UD students and $15 for all others. All seating is general admission.
Ice Skating
8 p.m. to 10 p.m. • Fred Rust Ice Arena

Ghosts (and History) on the Green - SOLD OUT
Walking Tours at 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Tours leave from Old College.
Learn about the University's haunted history during a thrilling 90-minute walking tour of campus lead by author Ed Okonowicz (UD '69, '83M) and historian Mike Dixon. Together, they will share campus stories that aren't featured in the official guidebooks as well as local legends and folk tales related to Newark and UD's campus. This walking tour will be held regardless of weather conditions.
Free Admission, but tickets are required and must be order via the online ticket order process. Please note that tickets for this event are extremely limited.

Safety and Security on Campus

The presentation will focus on the services that are provided by the Department of Public Safety to the University community, including a
discussion regarding the emergency notification system, UD Alert, that will be implemented and other systems that would be utilized in the event of a major emergency.

Did you know that America’s first study abroad program was launched at UD? The Center for International Studies will present opportunities for adding an international dimension to your student’s academic program by participating in the over 50 programs on all seven continents that are offered to UD students each year.
Developing Good Study Habits

Success in college can be attributed to many things, including the ability to study effectively. The Academic Enrichment Center will offer tips and resources to parents and students to enhance study habits, as well as advice on how parents can provide encouragement and support to the process.

This live, interactive presentation focuses on developing smart money management skills in college by providing information on: How to use credit appropriately, The basics of banking, Taking control of your student loan debt and Protecting your identity and avoiding identity theft. This program will provide you with powerful tips and tools that can lead you to a lifetime of financial independence. The speaker will share key advice that will help you make better decisions about money during and after college. Presented by Making it Count and sponsored by Bank of America and Monster.com.
Blue Hen Tailgate Party - SOLD OUT
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. • Delaware Field House
Show your blue and gold spirit while enjoying an authentic Blue Hen Tailgate Party featuring hamburgers and hot dogs, fried chicken, fruit salad, pasta salad, soft pretzels, desserts and assorted cold beverages.
Enjoy live entertainment by the Royal Palm Steel Band throughout the Party and join the UD marching band, cheerleaders, dance team and YoUDee for an entertaining display of school spirit at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Cost for the event is $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for children under age 8. Students are required to purchase tickets for this event as it is not included in the UD meal plan.
Football Game
3:30 p.m. kickoff • Tubby Raymond Field at Delaware Stadium
Catch the Fightin’ Blue Hens on their quest for the Division 1-AA Championship as they take on CAA rival the University of Rhode Island Rams.
Tickets are $21 each for reserved seats.
Tickets can be purchased at the UD Box Office in Trabant and the Bob Carpenter Center or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
Please note, Parents and Families are not permitted to sit in the student sections. Parents and Families who wish to sit with their student at the game must purchase a ticket for the student to sit in the Grandstands.

The brunch buffet features assorted bagels, Danish, and muffins, fresh fruit, omelets made to order, waffles with assorted toppings, bacon and sausage, home fries, quiche Lorraine, shrimp and scallop scampi, a smoked salmon display, carved pecan crusted turkey and baked ham, and a pastry table.

The entire family can enjoy this unique opportunity to sample part of college life with brunch in the dining halls. The brunch buffet includes Caribbean jerk chicken with tropical fruit salsa, wild rice pilaf, sautéed fresh spinach, mixed salad greens with orange vinaigrette, eggs made to order, crisp bacon, sausage gravy, home style biscuits, French toast with assorted toppings, make your own Waffle Bar, pastries, and a variety of hot and cold beverages. Celebrate fall with this community-focused festival that brings together the best of the University and Newark for a day of fun for all ages. Parking for Freshman Family Weekend activities is available on campus in the
Trabant University Center Parking Garage on Main Street, in Visitors Parking Lot
#41, adjacent to the Visitors Center on South College Avenue, and in other lots
around campus.
Friday, September 14
Complimentary parking is available in the Trabant University Center Parking Garage and Visitors Lot #41 from 5:00 p.m. to midnight.
Saturday, September 15
Complimentary parking is available in the Trabant University Center Parking Garage and Visitors Lot #41 from 10:00 a.m. to midnight.
Complimentary shuttle bus service is available between the Trabant Garage Driveway, the Gore-Smith Hall Overpass on South College Avenue, and the David M. Nelson Athletic Complex (Delaware Field House, Tubby Raymond Field at Delaware Stadium, and the Bob Carpenter Center). The shuttles will leave the Trabant Garage Driveway beginning at 12:00 noon and 9:00 p.m. and will continue in 20-minute intervals until midnight.

Complimentary parking is available in the Trabant University Center Parking Garage, at all metered spaces along Main Street, and in all City of Newark Municipal Lots from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Except as noted, events are free and tickets or advance reservations are not required. When tickets are required, Freshman Family Weekend tickets should be ordered online. Tickets must be ordered online by September 5, 2007.
- If tickets remain for Chicago Comedy Company and the Fightin' Blue Hen Football Game the may be purchased in person at the Unversity Box Office on the day of the event.
- If space is available, Sunday brunch in the dining halls may be purchased at the door.
All tickets ordered by August 29 will be mailed directly to the address you indicate on the online Ticket Order Form. Tickets ordered between August 30 and September 5 will be held for pick up from University Box Offices (see ticket pick-up hours below).

Of special note:
For the football game on Saturday, September 15, UD students with ID receive free admission for seating in the South Endzone only. For brunch in the dining halls on Sunday, September 16, UD students using meal plans do not need tickets.
To ensure timely processing, ticket orders must be made online by Wednesday, September 5.
