University of Delaware
Allies Program

Application for Orientation

Brief Description

The Allies Program is a new initiative by the LGBT Community Office, LGB Concerns Caucus, and the LGB Student Union to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students, staff and faculty at the University of Delaware. At the heart of the Allies Program is a campus-wide network of faculty, staff, and graduate students that serves as the first point of contact for members of the LGBT community who have concerns, need a caring individual to talk to, or may require additional information. Allies are not professional counselors; they are helpful resources.

Expectations

  • Allies must attend an initial orientation session and participate in periodic follow-up sessions.
  • Allies will display the Program logo prominently in their workspaces so they can be identified by individuals who need assistance.
  • When asked for assistance, Allies will do their best to be supportive and to direct individuals to further resources and assistance.
  • Allies will honor the strict confidentiality of all individuals they assist.
  • Allies will contact the Allies Program coordinators with questions, suggestions, and concerns.
