Responsibilities &
recruitment territory

Oversee multicultural student recruitment planning and implementation. Coordinate outreach efforts for middle school students’ early college preparation and planning (e.g. Commitment to Delawareans Campaign). I do not have an assigned recruitment territory; however, I’ve manned numerous college fairs and visited schools in Virginia and Maryland.

How did I get my nickname?

I earned a doctoral degree in education

An interesting fact about the University that I discovered recently.

A Bloomberg News story identified the University of Delaware as the “epicenter” of the 2008 presidential election, and for good reason. The top Obama and McCain strategists in the recent presidential election were UD alums -- Steve Schmidt and David Plouffe. Of course, the presidential campaign also included another UD alum – Joseph Biden – now Vice President of the United States. This fall, the University launched a new multidisciplinary Center for Political Communication to study and teach about the information technology revolution’s effect on campaigns for public office and policy debates.

The best thing to see or do when visiting campus

Tour UD’s Laird Campus, home to our very own hotel, conference center, and Independence Complex (our newest residence halls named after three of UD’s earliest alumni who were signers of the Declaration of Independence).

Words of advice for a student who is applying.

Apply by December 1 and adhere to all admissions and financial aid deadlines.

The coolest Delaware experience

I’m also a member of the Delaware State Board of Education. As Delaware is a smaller state, it’s cool to see how what we do at the University of Delaware, including our Commitment to Delawareans, impacts the lives of so many people in the state of Delaware. I’m proud to be a part of it!
