Each year, the American Association of University Professors presents two Undergraduate Student Awards to outstanding seniors who plan to attend graduate school in preparation for an academic career in university or college teaching or research. Each award is $2,000 and is to be used to defer expenses related to graduate school. To be eligible for consideration, the student must:
- Be in his or her senior year,
- Have demonstrated outstanding academic work,
- Have exhibited a high level of involvement in campus life,
- Have a commitment to a career in teaching and research in higher education,
- Have applied to graduate school, and
- Have completed the application form and submitted three letters of recommendation.
Award recipients are announced on Honors Day each year.
Applications are sought in January of each year and can be obtained by contacting the AAUP office at 831-2292 or by downloading the application form (PDF) and Evaluation Report (PDF).
