Graduate Teaching Award

This award trains graduate students in pedagogy as well as in curriculum design and implementation. Graduate students are linked to experienced faculty sponsors whose courses they will "shadow." Through classroom observation and assistance, follow-up discussion as well as monitored teaching, students gain teaching experience that will complement their research training and enhance their career choices. Subsequently, award recipients are expected to develop their own syllabi and teach an undergraduate course in the Women's Studies Program during a winter or summer session, given the availability of funds.

One Graduate Teaching Award is available for each year of the funding cycle in the amount of $14,600. Students receiving this award are not entitled to any other University graduate funding.

Dissertation Fellowship Award

This award supports the writing of dissertations that employ a broadly defined gender perspective. We particularly encourage submission from PhD students in departments and colleges that have not been previously linked to Women's Studies. The award allows students to devote themselves fulltime, for one year, to writing their thesis. Students in either the initial stages of writing their dissertation or those nearing completion are eligible.

One Dissertation Fellowship Award is available for each year of the funding cycle in the amount of $14,600.

Travel Award

This award supports a graduate student's presentation of her/his research at a conference.

One Travel Award is available for each year of the funding cycle in the amount of $1,000.
