Installing RealPlayer for Mac OS X There are 10 simple steps to completing this task. Please read or print these directions first before proceeding. Your web browser may be closed during the installation of RealPlayer. You may wish to bookmark or print this page so that you can quickly return to it for reference.

Installing RealPlayer for Mac OS X

Step 1: Starting the installer

After downloading, you will find the RealPlayer application on your desktop or inside a disc image (double click the disc image to find RealPlayer).

Double-click the RealPlayer icon to start the installer.

Step 2: Setup Assistant

Click Continue.

Step 3: Release Notes

Click Continue.

Step 4: License Agreement

Read the End User License Agreement and click the Accept button to continue.

Step 5: Media Types

Click Done to accept the default Media Type settings. You do not need to sign in or create a RealNetworks password.

Step 6: Configure Web Browsers

Click Configure to allow RealPlayer to configure your web browsers properly.

Step 7: Copy Application

If you are asked to do so at this point, please select Copy to copy the RealPlayer application to your Applications folder on your harddisc.

(If you used Safari to download RealPlayer, you will not be asked this question. You can copy the application later as in step 10.)

Step 8: Introductory Clip

An introductory clip should now play.

Step 9: Turbo Play Preference

Once the clip has finished playing, click on the RealOne Player menu item at the top-left of your screen. Mouse down and select Preferences.

In the list on the left, select Connection. On the right side, uncheck the box next to Enable Turbo Play.

Click OK to close the preferences window.

Advanced: Step 10: Move RealPlayer to your Applications Folder

If you were not prompted earlier to copy the application, please complete this step.

Double-click the icon for your hard drive on the desktop. Next, drag the RealPlayer icon and drop it onto the Applications folder on your hard drive.

Congratuations!

You have successfully installed RealPlayer. Now proceed to Test the Player.
