More than 1,000 continuing education and returning adult students attend UD for part-time and evening study, professional development programs, and distance-learning opportunities. If you're a prospective student, here is where you can review the requirements for admission, learn about special pre-college programs and courses you can take while still in high school, explore campus life, and find out how to take an online tour or make arrangements for a personal visit.

Pre-college Programs

""FAME/UNITE/MERIT/UD
A 4-week residential program to increase the participation of minorities in engineering and other science professions.

""Summer College
A 5-week residential summer school program for academically motivated high school sophomores and juniors.

""UD Dual Enrollment Program
This program enables high schools to offer qualified students the valuable opportunity of earning college credits through distance learning courses during their junior and senior years.

""Governor's School for Excellence
This is a one-week summer residential program that brings together academically and artistically talented Delaware high school students who have completed their sophomore year.

""Governor's School for Excellence in China
The Governor’s School for Excellence in Chinese Language and Culture is an intensive, six-week long academic program designed to immerse students in Chinese language and culture. Students must be over the age of 14 and under the age of 19 at the program’s start date.

""Upward Bound Program
A pre-college TRIO program for high school students who reside in New Castle county.

""Upward Bound Math/Science Program
A pre-college TRIO program for eligible students from Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, with an emphasis in the fields of math and science.

The University of Delaware is committed to creating an educational community that is intellectually, culturally, and socially diverse, enriched by the contributions and full participation of persons from many different backgrounds. Currently, 60% of all UD undergraduates are non-residents of Delaware who represent nearly every U.S. state and a number of foreign countries. International students comprise nearly one-quarter of UD's graduate enrollment, with representation by students from more than 50 countries.

  • UD#1 card The UD#1 CARD is the official identification card of the University of Delaware. This card can be used to access such services and facilities as parking and fitness centers , student activities and voting, the dispensary and student health services, athletic facilities and events , dining meals and points , vending , laundry, and copiers with UD1 FLEX . You can also arrange to access to STARSM (previously MAC®) through a WSFS UD#1 Account.
  • UD1 FLEX With your UD#1 CARD in hand, you can leave the cash at home. FLEX canlet you enjoy campus-wide cashless purchasing power at all dining locations, the University Bookstore, the Perkins Student Center, the Trabant University Center, campus box offices, the student health center and parking services just to name a few places.
