The teams implementing the new student information system UDSIS are making great strides toward full operations for Fall Semester 2006. UDSIS is already being used for all Fall 2006 undergraduate and graduate admissions processing, as well as for cashiering and financial aid functions related to freshman admissions. Here are some highlights from the many teams working on this project:
- Academic Advisement (Mary Jo Mankin)
- Degree audits are being built in UDSIS. Used by students and advisors, a degree audit is a computer analysis that indicates a student's academic progress and unfulfilled degree requirements.
- Undergraduate Admissions Team (Jeff Rivell)
- Since going live in August 2005 with UDSIS, the Admissions Office has processed over 21,000 Fall 2006 freshman applications.
- Graduate Admissions Team (Mary Martin)

- GRADIS, the web-based graduate admissions system built with in UDSIS, has been live since August 2005. In the five months since then, the Office of Graduate Admissions has processed 4,500 applications. This is 500 more applications than this time last year.
- The Office of Graduate Studies rolled out GRADIS access to 900 users across all graduate programs. Campus users view and process their programsí applications in GRADIS and find navigation intuitive and easy to use.
- GRADIS is still a work in progress with new features continually being added based on feedback from campus users.
- Campus Community Team (Elizabeth Wardrop)
- They have converted biographic data for over 250,000 students going back to Fall 1971 from SIS+ into UDSIS.
- Communications and Training Team (Elizabeth Wardrop and Ellen Lepine)

- They are working on the first of a series of training offerings for UDSIS departmental users. It will be an introduction to UDSIS covering navigation and other basic information. The training is expected to be offered in March.

- Financial Aid Team (Jim Holloway)

- They are currently loading Fall 2006 freshman federal application data (FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid) into UDSIS.
- They are working with the Admissions Office to support the Early Admissions offers with financial aid estimates calculate in UDSIS.
- Professional & Continuing Studies and English Language Institute Team (Dayle Thorpe)

- A team comprised of professional and support staff from PSC and the ELI is currently building on the processes that have been completed for credit students. They are in the process of implementing necessary processes to accommodate non-credit students.
- The team has been introduced to the Campus Community and Academic Structure modules of the system. Training regarding Student Records, Student Financials and Reports is scheduled for the near future.
- Report Team (Dale Trusheim)

- They are working on reports for the Admissions Office with the new reporting tool Cognos.
- Their next focus will be reporting with student record data.
- Student Financials Team (Angie Beecham)

- The Cashiers Office is collecting admissions and housing deposits for incoming freshman for Fall 2006 via the web and the UDSIS cashiering system just implemented in January 2006.
- The team is working on new procedures and forms for the new student billing and collection system within UDSIS.
- Student Records Team (Jeff Palmer)
- The team is working on two complex data conversions projects for the new system: students’ matriculation history and schedule of classes. Both these conversion tasks involve converting data going back to Fall 1971. Their hard work will insure this valuable SIS+ data from the past 35 years will be retained in the new UDSIS system.
