UDSIS Project Update - September 12, 2006

Now that we have started the Fall Semester, I thought it important to update you on the status of the University's migration to a new student information system, UDSIS. We are in a transition period where we are using both the new UDSIS system and the old system, SIS+. By the end of Fall Semester, we will have completed the implementation and be using UDSIS for all student record and academic functions.

Two recent developments I want to highlight:

  1. the UDSIS project team has decided to continue using the existing SIS+ system for the Late Drop/Add period this Fall, and
  2. Faculty Center will be available for faculty instructional needs later in September with training offered at that time.

In order to make this transition more understandable, below is a list detailing how both systems are currently being utilized and the timing for the cut-over to UDSIS. Should things change, I will keep you informed with further updates.

We are currently converting enrollment history from old system to new; the process has been completed for academic records for the years 1991 - 2006. We expect the conversion of remaining records back to 1971 to be finished by the middle of the fall semester. Along with enrollment history, we are migrating all other elements of the academic record necessary to produce a complete and accurate official University of Delaware transcript in the new system.

The next three months will be a period of transition; the campus will have two sources, SIS+ for registration information and UDSIS for all other student data. As Fall enrollment information changes in SIS+, we are updating UDSIS daily to keep both systems up-to-date and in sync. This will enable the final cut-over to UDSIS to be as uneventful as possible.
